The Parents Television Council (or PTC) is a non-profit organization based in Virginia that acts as the watchdog of the media, praising shows for kid-friendly content, but criticizes others for harmful content to children. They have been known for criticizing shows like Family Guy, CSI, Friends, and South Park. Some people criticize the PTC for going too far in stopping broadcast indecency, and are called by some "hypocrites of the media".
Criticism and First Amendment controversies[]
The PTC has been long accused of trying to mess with the First Amendment rights and believe that nothing is more important than their decisions, which is considered by many a violation of the First Amendment. Most user's response to the PTC's thoughts on YouTube and in the media we're hostile, sending the PTC hate letters, on which the PTC disabled comments on their YouTube page. Fans of WWE (formerly known as WWF) have made campaigns like Rock Out Censorship, or groups like WWE fans against Censorship, in efforts of preventing the PTC from removing WWE off the air. Fans of Family Guy are most angered at the PTC's actions against the show, which makes most of the hate mail the PTC gets angry letters from fans of Family Guy.
In a 2008 interview with a magazine, known as "The Advocate", Seth MacFarlane, creator of Family Guy, American Dad, and The Cleveland Show, commented:
“Oh, yeah. That's like getting hate mail from Hitler. They're literally terrible human beings. I've read their newsletter, I've visited their website, and they're just rotton to the core. For an organization that prides itself on Christain values - I mean, I'm an atheist, so what do I know? - they spent their entire day hating people. They can all suck my dick as far as I'm concerned.”

It has also been suggested by Americans for Freespeech in Entertainment and Media (AmFrEM) founder Clayton Ronso: "When one group of otherwise insignificant people, the PTC, tries to hide behind and force their uber conservative Christian beliefs upon the population in its entirety, and no one stands aganst them, we lose. We lose our First Amendment rights of freespeech and expression. We lose our individual identity. We lose our freedom of the press. We simply lose, this the AmFrem, cannot and will not happen".
